Our history starts with Retired General Ghulam Muhammad Malik, a humble, modest man having devoted his life to protect the security of Pakistan who in retirement started a mission helping the poor of Pakistan. His passion is to provide healthcare and education for poor communities. This quest led to starting a meagre medical centre in 1998 in a small house around the poor district of Rawalpindi. Al-Humdullilah He had both moral and financial support of other like-minded individuals. Soon they moved to our flagship centre in the same location. Having started with healthcare he has now moved on to education ensuring that al-Mustafa trust continues in the formidable hands of Retired General Muhammad Mustafa khan. the organisation has grown, with the help of all our generous donors in this good
It wasn’t a surprise that the demand of care grew and they had to find more resources to move to the main medical centre in Chaklala, a poor district of Rawalpindi, which was single storey but was raised at a later date to accommodate the ever increasing needs. the generosity of donors in Pakistan had continued to fund the extra needs to finance the number of medical centres, mostly in the villages where the need was greatest. However, the financial raised were never enough.
General Malik then resorted to getting help from overseas Pakistani community in UK. In 2005 he approached one of his friends, Mr. Ghulam Hussain Kayani to set up a registered charity in the name of Al-Mustafa Charitable trust soon to be followed by a registered company in UK. The work of gaining support from UK soon began. Both himself and Mrs. Kayani became involved in this noble cause and were one of the first trustees to organise fund raising events. They were soon joined by Mr Munawar Hussain Shah Gilani who donated their family land, in Kanyat Khalil, and paid to build the centre to provide care for the poor in the village where he and his family have spent some considerable time. He also was appointed trustee and Secretary of the trust. Mr Gillani had been living in Ilford Essex and had been very active in with Conservative political party. It was not surprising that The ambassador on UK in Pakistan attended the opening ceremony of the centre. His considerable contacts had helped the much-needed funding for Al-Mustafa trust each year at dinner events. General Malik visited each year to preside these events.
Due to advancing age and mindful for leaving his wife with her health problems he decided that it was time to retire in September 2015, but he persisted in his other objective of providing education for the poor and now heads Al-Mujtaba trust.
On General Malik Retirement he left a legacy of 12 medical centres mostly in the villages and the trust helped in excess of 265,000 in the year 2015. on the insistence of the trustees he remains as a patron of the trust.
After General malik Retired general Muhammad Mustafa Khan stepped in his shoes. General Khan had some considerable experience in commercial environment and had contacts both in UK and USA. apart from medical centres He implemented the strategy of adding dispensaries and mobile clinics to better serve rural communities.
